Unemployment increased in the areas of all ELY Centres

Compared to the same period in the previous year, the number of unemployed jobseekers increased in October in the areas of all Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY Centres); the most in Uusimaa (63%), Ostrobothnia (55%), Southwest Finland (43%) and Pirkanmaa (39%). The number of unemployed jobseekers increased the least in Kainuu (7%), South Savo (15%), North Karelia (16%) and Southeast Finland (18%). In the Åland Islands, the number of unemployed jobseekers increased by 175 per cent. Compared with September, the number of unemployed jobseekers decreased in the areas of nine ELY Centres; the most in Southwest Finland (-3%), Pirkanmaa (-2%) and North Ostrobothnia (-2%). From September, the number of unemployed jobseekers increased the most in South Ostrobothnia (5%) and Kainuu (4%).
