Unemployment increased in the areas of all ELY Centres

Compared to the same period in the previous year, the number of unemployed jobseekers increased in December in the areas of all Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY Centres); the most in Uusimaa (61%), Ostrobothnia (51%), Southwest Finland (43%), Pirkanmaa (35%) and Lapland (35%). The number of unemployed jobseekers increased the least in Kainuu (8%), North Karelia (19%), Southeast Finland (20%) and South Savo (22%). In the Åland Islands, the number of unemployed jobseekers increased 142%. Compared to November, the number of unemployed jobseekers also increased in the areas of all ELY Centres; the most in South Ostrobothnia (27%), Southwest Finland (23%) and Central Finland (18%).
