Increase in long-term unemployment

At the end of April, the number of long-term unemployed who have been unemployed without interruption for more than a year amounted 109,700, up 42,300 on the previous year. Of the long-term unemployed, 65,700 were men and 44,000 were women. The number of men increased by 25,400 (63%) from the previous year and the number of women by 16,900 (63%). The number of long-term unemployed who had been unemployed without interruption for more than two years numbered 41,000, which is 11,500 more than a year ago.
