Unemployment increased in the areas of five ELY Centres

Compared to the same period in the previous year, the number of unemployed jobseekers increased in March in the areas of five Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY Centres); the most in Uusimaa (23%), Häme (9%) and Southwest Finland (7%). The number of unemployed jobseekers decreased the most in Kainuu (-13%), South Ostrobothnia (-11%) and North Savo (-8%). In the Åland Islands, the number of unemployed jobseekers increased by 56 per cent. Compared with February, the number of unemployed jobseekers increased in the areas of eight ELY centres, the most in Uusimaa (3%) and South Savo (3%). In the Åland Islands, the increase from February was 6%. Compared with February, the number of unemployed jobseekers decreased the most in the areas of the ELY Centres of Ostrobothnia (-6%) and South Ostrobothnia (-4%).
