Unemployed jobseekers by levels of education and occupational group
Examined by level of education, unemployment decreased from April last year at all levels of education; the decrease was greatest among those with lower-degree level tertiary education (-38%), post-secondary non-tertiary education (-35%), lowest level of tertiary education (-33%) and higher-degree level tertiary education (-30%). Unemployment fell the least among those with higher level basic qualifications (-14%) and doctorate or equivalent level tertiary education (-14%).
Examined by occupation, unemployment decreased in all groups, with the exception of armed forces, from April last year; the greatest decreases were in the groups of service and sales workers (-33,100), ‘unknown’ (-25,200), technicians and associate professionals (-12,800) and professionals (-12,100). Unemployment among armed forces remained unchanged, while unemployment among agricultural and forestry workers fell the least (-500).
