Increase in long-term unemployment

At the end of May, the number of long-term unemployed who had been unemployed without interruption for more than a year amounted to 110,900, up 41,100 on the previous year. Of the long-term unemployed, 66,000 were men and 44,900 were women. The number of men increased by 24,400 (59 %) from the previous year and the number of women by 16,700 (59 %). The number of long-term unemployed who had been unemployed without interruption for more than two years numbered 42,200, which is 11,700 more than a year ago.
