At the end of March, the number of long-term unemployed who had been unemployed without interruption for more than a year amounted to 100,500, down 3,500 on the previous year. Of the long-term unemployed, 60,400 were men and 40,000 were women. The number of men decreased by 2,100 (-3%) from the previous year and the number of women by 1,400 (-3%). Of those unemployed in the long term, 53,300 had been unemployed without interruption for more than two years. This is 13,600 more than a year ago.
