At the end of June, the number of persons claiming pay subsidies, employed by the State or receiving start-up grants totalled 32,400, which is 4,200 more than the year before. Of those in placements, 2% were in central government jobs, 26% in local government jobs and 72% in the private sector. Since June last year, the number of placements has increased by 20% in local government jobs, by 13% in the private sector and by 2% in government jobs. Of those employed, 54% were men. Placements for men increased by 2,300, and those for women by 1,900 from the previous year.
