At the end of August, the number of long-term unemployed who had been unemployed without interruption for more than a year amounted to 92,300, down 19,400 on the previous year. Of the long-term unemployed, 55,500 were men and 36,800 were women. The number of men decreased by 10,800 (-16%) from the previous year and the number of women by 8,600 (-19%). Of those unemployed in the long term, 53,100 had been unemployed without interruption for more than two years. This is 7,500 more than a year ago.
