At the end of August, the number of jobseekers registered at the Employment and Economic Development Offices and municipalities participating in the local government pilots on employment totalled 485,900, down 120,900 on the previous year. Of the jobseekers, 243,400 were men and 242,500 were women. Compared to the situation a year ago, the number of men decreased by 62,300 and the number of women by 58,600. Of the jobseekers, 231,500, or 3,100 less than a year earlier, were customers of municipalities participating in the local government pilots on employment.
Of the jobseekers, 150,900 were employed: 105,500 of them were in full-time work, 23,300 were in part-time work and 22,100 were employed through the services organised by the employment and economic development administration and local government pilots on employment. The number of jobseekers outside the labour force was 90,700, of whom 23,500 were in services promoting employment and 50,700 in training. Of the jobseekers, 239,100 were unemployed jobseekers, which is 41,900 less than the year before. In August, 9,600 of unemployed jobseekers were fully laid off, which is 5,000 less than in July. The number of people fully laid off decreased by 15,000 from August a year earlier. Furthermore, jobseekers on a reduced working week numbered 5,200, representing a decrease of 5,900 from the year before.
