Unemployment decreased in the areas of almost all ELY Centres

Compared to the same period in the previous year, the number of unemployed jobseekers decreased in January in the areas of almost all Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY Centres); the most in Uusimaa (-9%), South Savo (-9%), Pirkanmaa (-9%), Häme (-8%), Southeast Finland (-6%), Lapland (-6%) and Southwest Finland (-6%). The number of unemployed jobseekers increased only in North Ostrobothnia (6%) and Ostrobothnia (2%). The number of unemployed jobseekers fell the most in Åland, by 21%. Compared with December, the number of unemployed jobseekers decreased in the areas of eleven ELY Centres; the most in South Ostrobothnia (-6%), Ostrobothnia (-3%), Southwest Finland (-2%), Satakunta (-2%) and Central Finland (-2%). In Åland, the number of unemployed jobseekers increased 4% from December.
