Unemployment decreased in the areas of nine ELY Centres

Compared to the same period in the previous year, the number of unemployed jobseekers decreased in February in the areas of nine Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY Centres); the most in Lapland (-7%), Häme (-7%), Uusimaa (-6%), Southwest Finland (-4%) and Pirkanmaa (-3%). The number of unemployed jobseekers grew the most in North Ostrobothnia (8%), Ostrobothnia (4%) and North Savo (2%). In Central Finland, the number of unemployed jobseekers was unchanged. The number of unemployed jobseekers fell the most in Åland, by 21%. Compared with January, the number of unemployed jobseekers decreased in the areas of seven ELY Centres; the most in Kainuu (-2%), Satakunta (-2%), North Karelia (-2%) and Lapland (-2%). Meanwhile, the number of unemployed jobseekers grew the most in South Savo (5%), Central Finland (3%) and Pirkanmaa (2%). In Åland, the number of unemployed jobseekers increased 1% from January.
