Unemployment decreased in the areas of four ELY Centres

Compared to the same period in the previous year, the number of unemployed jobseekers decreased in August in the areas of four Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY Centres): in Lapland (-5%), Kainuu (-4%), Häme (-2%) and Southwest Finland (-1%). The number of unemployed jobseekers grew the most in North Ostrobothnia (13%), Pirkanmaa (12%), Ostrobothnia (8%), Central Finland (7%) and North Savo (6%). In Åland, the number of unemployed jobseekers decreased by 4%. Compared to July, the number of unemployed jobseekers decreased in areas of all ELY Centres; the most in Ostrobothnia (-21%), Kainuu (-15%), Lapland (-14%), North Ostrobothnia (-13 %) and North Karelia (-13%). In Åland, the number of unemployed jobseekers fell by 8% from July.
