Unemployment increased more among men than women

Of the unemployed jobseekers, 150,600 (59%) were men and 105,500 (41%) were women, From September, the number of unemployed men rose by 5,700 and the number of unemployed women by 600. Compared with October a year ago, unemployment increased by 17,600 (13%) among men and by 6,100 (6%) among women.

Unemployment decreased only among those over 64

At the end of October, unemployed jobseekers aged under 25 numbered 26,600, representing an increase of 3,000 from October a year ago. Youth unemployment increased from September by 600. For those under 20, the number of unemployed was 5,600. Among those over 50, the number of unemployed was 93,600, representing an increase of 4,300 on the previous year. Among those over 55, the number of unemployed was 69,400, representing an increase of 3,000 on the year before. Unemployment decreased among those over 64 years of age (-4%). Unemployment increased the most among those under 20 (23%), those between 40 and 44 (15%), between 45 and 49 (14%), between 35 and 39 (14%), and between 30 and 34 years of age (14%). Compared to September, unemployment increased in almost all age groups, the most among those aged over 64 (4%).
